The needs of the Salina Rescue Mission for the month of February include: foot powder, cough drops, Ibuprofen, paper towels, toilet paper, laundry detergent, men's blue jeans sizes W-32, L-34 and W-34, L-34, work boots sizes 8.5 - 14, men's clothing size 3x and larger, winter coats, thermals, quilted flannel jackets, pillow cases, 13 gal. trash bags, and 55 gal. trash bags. The Humane Society of the Flint Hills is offering a discount to those who get their pets spayed or neutered during the month of February. Discounts apply to anyone living in Lyon, Chase, Coffey, Greenwood, Morris, Osage, or Wabaunsee Counties. Limit two per household, please. Sat - 2/21(8AM) - The youth at LifeHouse church in Abilene, 420 NW 2nd St., are having a rummage sale. A live Christian band will provide music, and the proceeds from the sale will help with the costs of their March Lock-in. The youth leaders are also looking for donations for prizes or sponsorship with the costs.
Mon - 2/23 - Register for the Focus on Marriage seminar at First Covenant Church in Salina on February 28th. Fees are $69.00 per couple and $40.00 per individual. This conference, sponsored by Focus on the Family, will help you see your marriage through the eyes of God, with the hope that you'll begin to understand the divine motivation and purpose for why He brought you together. Speakers include Beth Moore, Dr. Gary Smalley, Dr. John Trent, Gary Thomas, Dr. Del Tackett, and special music by Jeremy Camp. Tue - 2/24(6:30PM) - McPherson Aglow Lighthouse is holding their monthly meeting in the Fireside Room at Perkins Restaurant, 2111 East Kansas Avenue. Pastors Jerry and Ruthie Wickline of McPherson will be sharing their love for Christ in ministry. The Wicklines founded Spirit Life Ministries in 1998. Wed - 2/25(6PM) - First Congregational Church of Emporia announces their Amazing Grace Campaign which will run from Ash Wednesday, February 25th to Easter April 12th. The campaign starts with a free soup dinner in the Fellowship Hall followed by a service at 7PM in the Chapel at 13th and State. Sat - 2/28(7-8:30AM) - The national men's ministry, "Letters from Dad," is coming to Emmanuel Church, 1300 N. Vine in Abilene, with a Kickoff Breakfast Event. If you are a father, learn to leave a legacy by saying the things you've always wanted to say but just didn't know how. "Letters from Dad" has helped to restore family communication, produced healed marriages, and reconciled parent-child relationships, all through the "lost art of letter writing." Admission is free and anyone is welcome.
Sat - 2/28(5-7PM) - Trinity Lutheran Church, at Ninth and Crawford in Salina, is having an Italian Cafe supper. The menu includes spaghetti, garlic bread, salad, chocolate cake, and a drink. Advance tickets cost $5 or $6 at the door. All funds raised will go to the youth group to pay for activities and trips, including the National Youth Gathering in 2010.
